Northland Cargo and Logistics
Seasonal service, May - September
Ice forms in the Bering Sea and along the coast of Western Alaska in October each year, and marine navigation to these communities is impossible until May. Consequently, supplying major construction projects as well as shipment of general commodities to these towns must be completed during the short summer window. We call on the major hub ports of Naknek, Dillingham, Nome, Bethel and Kotzebue, and more than 65 small villages. Freight consists of building and construction materials, heavy equipment and vehicles, grocery items, and fishing supplies.
We have established ourselves as the preeminent supply line for Western Alaska's fisheries. For a few weeks each year, Bristol Bay is home to one of the largest salmon fisheries in the world and Northland is at the heart of this frantic 'round-the-clock' harvest. Virtually everything the industry needs arrives on our barges. And a major share of the catch makes its first journey toward world markets the same way.

Amazing Shipment: A Towering Achievement
Northland was tasked by STG Construction to move large wind tower components to remote destinations in Western Alaska—villages like Toksook Bay, Chevak, Hooper Bay and Shaktoolik.
Tower blades and bases are up to 85 feet long and weigh up to 50, 000 pounds each. STG chose Northland because of our expertise in delivering cargo to challenging locations, often without docks or other infrastructure. When it comes to bush Alaska, it pays to "go with experience".
